Sally Longley is a Spiritual Director and retreat leader currently on leave from the staff of the Canisius Centre for Ignatian Spirituality in Pymble, Sydney, Australia.
Sally has been involved in spiritual direction for many years, having studied spiritual direction in both the USA and Australia. Sally has been a member of the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction as well as serving for 6 years (2014-2019) as the president of the Australian Network for Spiritual Direction. She has trained as a supervisor, and is also a Veriditas Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator. Along with her husband and some community members, she designed and built the two labyrinths at the Canisius Centre for Ignatian Spirituality in Pymble, Sydney – one a Chartres pattern and one a classic pattern.
Sally is also part of a 4-year training program team, designed for those who want to be formed as spiritual directors.
Sally is a qualified Giver of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, and recently completed her doctorate. She has written “Walking the Labyrinth as the Beloved in John’s Gospel”, and produced the 3 set DVD/video on “5 Ways to Pray”. She is currently completing a book “Conversations with Silence” which will be published later this year. She was Scholar-Writer in Residence at New Zealand’s Vaughan Park Centre in 2017.
Sally continues to facilitate retreats of 1 day, 3 day, 5, 8 and 30 day silent and themed retreats, and has been invited to lead retreats in USA, NZ and around Australia. She has spoken at conferences on a wide range of topics including

- The role midrash can play in depthing our understanding of ourselves and scripture
Her hobbies include iconography, creating stained glass windows and doors, playing with paint and reading.
Sally Longley has also been on the formation team for the Residential Program for Spiritual Direction, a four-year course forming spiritual directors. She is currently the President of the Australian Network for Spiritual Direction and a former member of the Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction.
